NOW HIRING: Junior Estimator

Job Summary
Rush Commercial Construction, Inc. is currently seeking a high-talent Junior Estimator to join a well-established regional construction company that specializes in Class A office, healthcare, multifamily developments and senior housing. The Junior Estimator represents the Company and its Vision & Guiding Principles while supporting the Senior Estimator in the calculation of material quantity requirements, gathering and preparing routine estimating data and compiling data for use in bid proposal estimates.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates and detail estimates for projects of varying size and complexity, including materials price lists, labor costs and equipment
- Research prior estimating data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compile summary reports to develop guidelines and precedents for future estimates
- Hand-off estimate and preferred/pre-defined subcontractors to project management team for final buyouts
- Work with sub-consultants and subcontractors to find Value Engineering options
- Have a working knowledge of material unit costs, systems square foot costs and total building square foot costs
- Work closely with project management and project development teams
- Research and recruit new subcontractors as required for design-build applications, and value engineering to drive competitive buyouts and strategically align with project management team on subcontractor qualifications
- Keep current on changes and trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes and working rules
- Participate in design progress meetings and client presentations as required
- Capable of using all Procore software elements to ensure proper job outcomes

Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination education/experience
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in estimating, design related activities, project management, or construction management
- Experience with design-build, engineer/procure/construct, construction management and hard bid projects
- Experience with computer-based estimating systems and competent in the use of recognized electronic spreadsheets, and word processing
Special Skills
Proven written and verbal communication abilities; strong planning, problem solving & negotiation skills; proficient using computer applications, specifically Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project, Procore, Sage Timberline Estimating, On-center take off software and Bluebeam.
Certifications and/or Licenses
First Aid and CPR trained, OSHA Certifications (preferred)
