Maintenance Tips For Your Office Space

Written by Rush Properties | Jul 12, 2024 8:54:19 PM

Maintaining a safe and productive workspace is crucial for any business. Here are some essential tips and tricks from Rush Properties that can help you keep your leased office and medical spaces in tip-top shape:

1. Electrical

First, always replace damaged electrical cords to ensure safety and prevent potential hazards. Overloading circuits can also be a problem, especially with space heaters, which draw too much power. If temperatures are uncomfortable, let Rush Properties know instead of resorting to personal heaters. To save on energy costs, make it a habit to turn off lights and equipment when they're not in use. Additionally, consider upgrading to LED lighting, as LED fixtures last much longer and maintain brightness, minimizing the need for replacements and reducing downtime.

2. Fire, Life, and General Safety

Fire safety is another critical aspect of office maintenance. Make sure to visually inspect fire extinguishers in your suite monthly. Rush Properties coordinates annual basic extinguisher inspections with a vendor, but it’s the tenant's responsibility to arrange professional inspections for specialty extinguishers. Emergency exit lights should also be inspected monthly to ensure they are functioning correctly. Regularly inspect your space to identify hazards such as stained ceiling tiles, deteriorating caulking around plumbing fixtures, and loose door handles.

3. Plumbing

Plumbing maintenance is key to avoiding unpleasant surprises. Pour water down drains regularly to prevent smells from dried-out p-traps. Investing in simple tools like buckets, mini-sink plungers, and sink strainers can help you manage minor clogs and prevent bigger issues. If you do encounter a leak, report it to Rush Properties immediately to avoid further damage.

4. Other Tips

Don’t forget about the air intake vents—vacuum them regularly to keep them clear of dust and ensure they are not obstructed by smoke detectors. If you notice any pest control issues, contact Rush Properties, as our vendor conducts monthly perimeter services to keep pests at bay. Finally, keep up with regular equipment maintenance, such as Class 1 hood cleaning and dryer vent cleaning, to ensure everything is running smoothly.

By following these tips, enjoy a safer, more efficient workspace!
